F R U I T - M A N I A

Once the program has run, you will be shown a title screen. By moving the
mouse up and down, you will be able to choose from the three available
options.
Option 1: Play
Option 2: Options
Option 3: Hiscores

Choosing option 2 will show you another screen which will allow you to
change certain aspects of the program.
Number of players (1-4) NB.Demo only one player
Number of Rounds (1-8) NB.Demo only 4 rounds
Save Scores YES/NO
Music YES/NO
Sound Test (at present 1-15 and only rings bell)
Exit
By moving the mouse up and down to move the cursor, you will be able to
select an option. Pressing the left mouse button will allow you to change
the option chosen. While on 'Sound Test', pressing the right mouse button
will play a sound or piece of music.
Choose the 'Exit' option to return back to the title screen.

Choosing option 3 from the title screen will allow you to view the Hi-score
table. There are 8 tables of 10 scores. Clicking the left mouse button
will return you to the title screen.

Choosing option 1 from the title screen will begin the playing of the game.
The actual game screen is split into four areas.
1. Display messages
2. Feature screen
3. The reels
4. Buttons

Area 1 will tell you the current status of play at all times, ie player
number, wins, Supa-Hold etc.

Area 2 contains (most of the time) the FRUIT-MANIA lights. These lights
can be lit three ways...
a) If you don't win anything on the reels, the numbers on the reels are
counted up and one letter is lit for the value on the reels.
b) If you don't win anything on the reels and any question marks are on
the reels, you will be given the chance to stop the light anywhere.
Once you have stopped the flashing, the light that you hit will be
lit up, with all previous lights also.
c) 'SKILL CHANCE' will allow you to try and light up the last letter of
'FRUIT-MANIA'. When 'SKILL CHANCE' is activated, the green light will
flash.
If you are lucky, the blue 'FEATURE HELD' light will flash signifying
that any occurences of the the above will be added to 'FRUIT-MANIA' and not
started from the first letter.
If at any time the whole of 'FRUIT-MANIA' is lit, you will proceed to the
features screen.

Area 3 contains...
1) The current value of the 'JACKPOT'.
2) The current value of the 'CASHPOT'.
3) The current amount of 'NUDGES'.
4) The current players winnings.
5) A 'NUDGE-BANK' (explained later).
6) The four reels

Area 4 contains the buttons, which are activated by pressing the left mouse
key on any button that is flashing.

Playing the Game
The idea behind all other fruit machines, including those found in an arcade
depends on the idea that you put money in them. With 'FRUIT-MANIA' you
start off with no cash, and hopefully come away with a fortune.
To win is easy, to win a lot more is a skill. There are two ways to win...
1) By getting 2, 3 or 4 fruits that match in the center row of the reels.
2) By earning a feature by lighting up the 'FRUIT-MANIA' lights.
On the reels there are various fruit...

Spelling 'J A C K' on four reels will win the current 'JACKPOT'.
The sevens are useful, they can be showing on the reels at the top
middle or bottom, and you could still receive a win if there are
more than one of them eg..

Receiving a win will cancel out the adding up of the numbers on the
reels, and also the question marks.
Also, when a normal win occurs, you will be allowed to gamble your
winnings up to a value of 20.00, or collect them if wish.

The Feature Screen
Once all the lights of 'FRUIT-MANIA' have been lit, you will be shown the
feature screen.
If you got to this screen by lighting all of 'FRUIT-MANIA', the features
will light up randomly.
If you got to this screen using a 'SKILL CHANCE', the features will flash
in a circular pattern, so that no immediate money win, 'FREE SPIN' or
'SUPA-HOLD' will be made available.
To stop a feature, press the left mouse key on the big red stop button at
the bottom of the screen.
The feature that you earn will flash, then the feature will begin.

Feature - BINGO
Earning this will give you the chance to earn anything upto 52.00.
By spinning the reels 3 times, the bingo board will light up the fruit
that land on the center line of the reels.
Lighting a horizontal line will give you 1.00 (4)
Lighting a vertical line will give you 2.00 (4)
Lighting a diagonal line will give you 5.00 (2)
Lighting the four corners will give you 10.00 (1)
Lighting the whole of the bingo board will give you 20.00 (1)
If you don't win anything, you will be given a consolation prize of 40p.
The bingo lights that have been lit, will stay lit until a full house is
acheived, so a second visit could prove profitable.

Feature - CRAZY REELS
This feature will automatically spin the reels 8 times and add any wins
that appear on the reels.
All the fruits are treated like the sevens, so the following wins
are possible...

Feature - 4-IN-A-LINE / 3-IN-A-LINE
This feature will present you with a screen containing fruit that flash.
Stop the flashing by pressing the left mouse key and you will be rewarded
with either 3 or 4 of a kind on the win line. (Getting four bars will make
you 20.00 richer).

Feature - NUDGES
The first thing that will happen, will be that the reels will spin to a
random position, then you will be presented with a nudge gamble screen.
The total number of nudges comes from the NUDGES displayed on the reels
screen on the left hand side.
The display line at the top of the screen will show you how much money can
be won with the current number of NUDGES.
If you don't think you can win enough, you may gamble the NUDGES to try and
get more. (Up to 99 NUDGES !).
If you choose to gamble, and you lose all the nudges, you will be returned
to the FRUIT-MANIA screen to continue your go.
Clicking on the collect button will give you the shown amount of nudges.
From here you may either click on the AUTO button, or BANK button.
Clicking on the AUTO button will activate the autonudge, and the reels will
nudge the fruit to the win line.
By clicking on the BANK button, you may bank some nudges to the nudge bank.
Clicking on the WITHDRAW button will give you back a nudge that has been
banked.
Each time a nudge has been banked or withdrawn, the win is recalculated and
displayed at the top of the screen. So, if it takes 4 nudges to win 5.00
and you have 9 nudges, bank 5 of them before clicking on AUTO.
After the autonudge is completed, and you put some nudges into the nudge
bank, there is a 50/50 chance that the nudgebank will hold. If it does,
the nudge bank is transferred back to the nudges which you may try to
gamble again.

Feature - TWENTY UP
This feature moves the reels up 20 times. You may hold each reel as it
stops to try and get a big win. Once the hold button has been clicked on
it can not be cancelled. Only one reel can be held on one movement of
the reels.

Feature - STOP-A-WIN
This feature will spin the reels 5 times, each spin will give a win.
It is up to you to stop on the current win by clicking the mouse.
You may decide to stop the win on 5.00, but could the next spin give 10.00
or 20.00 ??.

Feature - STOP-A-FRUIT
This feature will flash each fruit on the reels randomly. Stop the light
on the 1st or 2nd reel to yield a 2 fruit win. Stop it on the 3rd to give
a 3 fruit win. Stop it on the 4th to give a 4 fruit win.
If you stop the light on any of the JACKPOT letters, the JACKPOT will be
given.
Stopping the light on a question mark will give a mystery win.

Feature - REELSTOP
This is probably the hardest feature to win on.
The reels will spin opposite to each other. The object being to try and
stop each reel to give a win.
HINT: Try stopping the fourth reel first.
BIG HINT: Try stopping the JACKPOT letters in any of three positions
on the four reels. (You may get a SUPA-HOLD)
SMALL HINT: Try stopping the sevens in any of three positions on the
four reels.

Feature - Follow The Leader
The buttons at the bottom of the screen will show musical notes. This
feature screen will show you the cash gambles. Two lights will be lit, one
showing the current win amount, the other is to show you the next win if
you successfully complete a round of the feature.
To play it, listen to the notes that will sound. Each note played will
light up one of the buttons at the bottom of the screen. If you play the
sequence using the mouse, you will advance up the money ladder, if you fail
once, you will only win the current amount showing.

Feature - SUPA-HOLD
On your next go, you will receive a SUPA-HOLD. The reels will first move
down a position, then up, up, down, down etc.
Stop each reel by clicking on the HOLD buttons. If you made a mistake,
click on the CANCEL button and wait for the reels to re-align before
clicking again.
This feature can also be given at random intervals during the play of the
game.
Use this feature to line up wins or get big numbers to light up
FRUIT-MANIA.

Feature - SUPA-SPIN
You will be presented with a screen containg the numbers 1 to 8. These
numbers will light up randomly. Stop the light by clicking on the stop
button.
Once you have stopped the light, the reels will spin automatically and give
a win. This will happen the 'stopped' number of times.

Feature - HI-LO
When this feature is won, you will be shown 13 cards with one card lit.
You start off with 1.00, with which you may collect or gamble.
Collecting will return back to the FRUIT-MANIA screen to continue with
the game.
Gambling will allow you to double your money to 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 pounds
You have 5 tries to guess the whether the next card chosen will be higher
or lower than the current one. To do this, observe the lights that are
flashing on both sides of the feature screen. If you wish to choose
higher, wait until 'HI' is lit, then click on the gamble button.
If you are correct, you will double your money.
If you are wrong, you will lose all the money won so far on this feature
and be returned back to the FRUIT-MANIA screen to continue the game.

Feature - REEL COUNT
This feature is automatic. It will spin the reels 6 times. After each
spin, any numbers on the win line will be counted to light up the squares
on the feature screen.
The more numbers that are counted, the more you can win (up to 20.00).

Feature - CASHDASH
Perhaps the most frustrating feature of all time. By clicking on the
stop button, try to make your way to the win square as fast as you can.
Two coin lights will be extinguished every second, so be quick.
NO HINT: Clicking the mouse as fast as you can will NOT get you to the
win square in time.

Feature - ROULETTE
You will be presented with a screen showing a miniature roulette wheel
along with four different types of gambles. You start off with 3.00,
you may either gamble 1.00 or collect.
To choose a gamble, wait until the particular gamble has been lit, then
press the mouse key on the gamble button.
Gamble : RED/GREEN
Try to guess whether the roulette wheel light will land on a
red number or a green number, win 2.00
Gamble : HI-LO
Try to guess whether the next number lit will be higher or lower
than the one currently showing, win 5.00
Gamble : COMBO (Red/Green - Odd/Even)
Try to guess if the roulette wheel light will land on a
red odd/even number, or land on a green odd/even number,
win 10.00
Gamble : SINGLES
Try to guess the number that the roulette wheel will land on,
win 20.00
If you gamble and lose, you will lose 1.00 off your stake money. You have
three tries to get richer.

Feature - TARGET
On this feature, use the stop button to stop the light from going around
in a circle.
You have 5 tries to get the highest win possible.
Stopping on an 'X' will not give you anything.
Stopping on a money value will boost the highest win to that value (but
only if it higher).
Stopping on an arrow will redirect the light to the inner squares. Try to
get to the 20.00 win if you can.

Feature - FRUIT ROULETTE
The fruits on the reels will start to light up in a circular fashion.
Click on the stop button to see where the light will finish up.
If the light stops on the 1st or 2nd reel, it will give a 2 fruit win.
If it stops on the 3rd, it will give a 3 fruit win.
If it stops on the 4th, it will give a 4 fruit win.
If the light stops on any of the JACKPOT letters, the JACKPOT will be
given.
If the light stops on a question mark, you will be given a mystery win.
